Magokoro's Weekly Diary (5 a day)
As promised, we finally have a lovely day. Blue sky with lazy wisps of cloud gliding here and there. It was still jolly cold this morning but I can feel spring urging itself forward. It is still a few weeks away but that is all it is...just a few weeks away. Right around the corner.
Not as many as I had thought are out utilizing this fine spell. I had supposed that people would take one look out the window and think, "Right, outside, fresh air, immediately"
This got me thinking. In England, health experts and doctors frequently talk about the importance of fresh air and "getting your five a day". This refers to the idea that you should eat at least 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day.
There are various national campaigns around the world, United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Japan and many more to encourage the consumption of at least five portions of fruit and vegetables each day, following a recommendation by the World Health Organisation that individuals consume "a minimum of 400g of fruit and vegetables per day.
